Join Irene Ann Resenly, a doctoral candidate at University of Wisconsin – Madison in Curriculum & Instruction – Social Studies Education, as she addresses the teaching of the Holocaust in Germany, particularly at sites of memory of former concentration camps. Using one site as an example and focusing on the perspectives of educators, her talk will explore the purpose of teaching and learning about the Holocaust at memorial sites, how site educators conceptualize the teaching of the Holocaust, and how notions of history, memory, place, and pedagogy shape their teaching. She will discuss her findings and explore what questions this prompts in an American setting.
Free & open to the public.
