Keynote Speaker:
Pinchas Gutter was born in 1932, in Lodz, Poland, into a Hasidic family that could trace their Polish roots back 400 hundred years. His father and grandfather owned one of the largest wineries in Poland. Pinchas, his parents, and his twin sister lived in the Warsaw ghetto during the uprising, before being discovered and deported to Majdanek, where all but Pinchas were murdered. Pinchas would go on to survive six concentration camps before his liberation in 1945 in Theresienstadt. Pinchas will reflect on what was lost during the Holocaust and on why preserving Holocaust survivor testimonies are so important.
This program is in partnership with the Milwaukee Jewish Federation, the Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center, and the Nathan and Esther Pelz Holocaust Education Resource Center.
