Jessica Sectzer-Rubin is the daughter of Helen & Jose Sectzer. She is the proud grandchild of two Holocaust survivors, Aron & Sala Mydlak. Jessica grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She was very close to her Grandparents. Growing up she fondly remembers having Shabbat dinners at their house, eating their homemade chicken soup and baked goods from scratch. The cookies were always hiding in the extra bedroom covered with tinfoil, just waiting for them to sneak one. Jessica listened to the stories her grandparents shared about life before the Holocaust and life during the Holocaust. Her Grandpa Aron always told the story of how he would roll the bread he was given in Auschwitz to make it last longer. As Jessica grew up, her Grandpa Aron was always ready to sit close and give her a piece of advice on life. Jessica misses her grandparents very much, but feels their history and lives in her life today. She is honored to share their stories to the next generation.
