Judith Ormond

Judith Ormond shares the story of her Czech born mother, now 97 years old and living in Cleveland, Ohio.  At age 12, her mother ran home from school one day to see Nazi soldiers invading her small, mountainous town.  Her family made an immediate escape but after a few months, an opportunity presented itself to send her to safety without her family. She was subsequently sent to England through the Kindertransport. The Kindertransport was organized by a few heroes, to send children aged 15 and under to England on trains traveling through Germany, Holland and then a boat to England. Approximately 10,000 children were sent to England via the Kindertransport.

Ms Ormond is a retired Milwaukee Symphony musician.  She now volunteers for various nature organizations, enjoys painting and traveling.
